A Legacy of Support: Bill Pittman and Pittman Properties

Introducing Bill Pittman

Bill Pittman, the owner of Pittman Properties, has been a steadfast supporter of Sertoma for many years. We recently had the opportunity to sit down with him and delve into his fascinating story, both personally and professionally.

Building a Legacy

The foundation of Pittman Properties traces back to Bill’s father, Bill Sr., a firefighter and astute businessman. In 1977, Bill Sr. made his initial foray into real estate by purchasing a duplex for rental income. This modest investment marked the beginning of a remarkable journey.

Growing Together

In 1985, while working for DeRoyal, Bill joined forces with his father to invest in homes for rental purposes. What started as a modest venture gradually blossomed into Pittman Properties, now boasting a portfolio of 120 properties, all situated in North Knoxville. The company’s reputation for prompt service and well-maintained homes has earned it numerous referrals and accolades.

A Heartfelt Connection

Tragically, Bill Sr. passed away in 2023, leaving Bill Jr. as the sole proprietor of Pittman Properties. However, his father’s legacy extended far beyond business acumen. Bill Sr.’s compassionate nature inspired Bill Jr. to become actively involved with Sertoma.

Taking a former Sertoma Person Supported under their wing, the Pittmans provided him with a home, sustenance, clothing, and employment. This experience ignited Bill’s passion for supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Commitment to Community

In addition to his involvement with Sertoma, Bill serves on the boards of East Tennessee Crime Stoppers and Young-Williams Animal Rescue, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to community causes.

Family First

At his core, Bill is a devoted family man, cherishing his role as a husband to Tina and a father to two children, Evan and Jill. Bill was very proud when his children decided to join the family business with Jill handling Marketing and Evan, Operations.  He takes immense joy in being a “Pappy” to his two adorable grandchildren, Libby & Tripp. With his loyal canine companions, Artemis and Elsa by his side, Bill’s family, including his furry friends, forms the heart of Pittman Properties.

Embracing Life Beyond Work

In his precious moments away from work and community endeavors, Bill finds solace and joy in various pursuits. One of his greatest passions is travel, with a particular fondness for exploring the idyllic shores of Turks & Caicos. The tranquil beaches and azure waters serve as a rejuvenating escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Additionally, Bill relishes the simple pleasure of dining out, especially when accompanied by Tina, his cherished companion. Together, they embark on culinary adventures, sampling delectable cuisines and savoring memorable dining experiences.

Living Life to the Fullest

Through his diverse interests and unwavering commitment to both work and family, Bill epitomizes a life well-lived. Whether immersing himself in new cultures or savoring the flavors of local eateries, he approaches each moment with enthusiasm and appreciation. His zest for life and generous spirit continue to inspire those around him, leaving an indelible mark on all who have the privilege of knowing him.

Gratitude and Appreciation

We extend our deepest gratitude to Bill for his steadfast support of Sertoma over the years and for being the 2024 Lifetime of Love Sponsor honoring Wes Stowers. His commitment has played an integral role in our growth and success, shaping us into the organization we are today. Thank you, Bill, for your unwavering dedication and generosity. We are truly grateful for your continued partnership and friendship.

Everyone deserves a chance to live a life full of purpose and promise. A life that values work, relationships, and the dignity of a home to be proud of. We provide the opportunity for adults with intellectual disabilities to find satisfaction of a life well lived, through work and friendship.

Through no fault of their own, these adults need the support of their community, so we create a home for rest and comfort. We help fulfill the human desire to live a life of purpose and promise.
