Friends of Sertoma—The 21st Annual Jimmy Hyams & Kenny Withers Golf Challenge is in the books!  Considering all the challenges COVID-19 presented as well as some pesky weather, it was a grand success once again. We would first and foremost like to thank Jimmy Hyams. Each year he works diligently and successfully on our behalf to deliver a successful fundraiser for Sertoma. We are beyond grateful to him and are honored by his friendship to Sertoma and the Withers family.

We would also like to thank Egwani Farms for hosting us at their fine golf course and taking care of our volunteers and golfers.  Despite Mother Nature’s rain and wind hazards the day of the tournament, the course was in great shape and our golfers were able to finish the day.

Of course, we want to thank so many people for another great event.  It takes many to make an auction and golf tourney event successful and enjoyable! Our board members and committee members are integral to this fundraiser. Many have worked alongside Sertoma and Jimmy Hyams for years to make sure it is a successful event for Sertoma. We are forever appreciative of all your talents and effort that you bring.  Our volunteer team within Sertoma (Kaylie Nolen, Taylor Dockery, Nicole Lemon, Kelly Collins) and our community teams from Akima Club and local businesses always put in extra time to make it work as well as it does.

To all the 116 golfers who showed up to play, sponsor the event, and bid on the auction items, we are extremely appreciative of your generosity! Many of our sponsors and golfers are repeat participants and supporters year after year and we humbly Thank you!!  This event would never have been as successful a fundraiser during this crazy year if it were not for our many sponsors, donors, and supporters.

Once again, thank you to everyone involved in this amazing event!  Your support will help us continue to provide a community of purpose, empowerment and promise to the 135 developmentally and intellectually disabled individuals that we gratefully serve.  Sertoma values your friendship and support to improve the lives and community in which we all live.

Everyone deserves a chance to live a life full of purpose and promise. A life that values work, relationships, and the dignity of a home to be proud of. We provide the opportunity for adults with intellectual disabilities to find satisfaction of a life well lived, through work and friendship.

Through no fault of their own, these adults need the support of their community, so we create a home for rest and comfort. We help fulfill the human desire to live a life of purpose and promise.
